In Memory of AAS Fellow, Jim Lovell

The American Astronautical Society mourns the loss of legendary Apollo astronaut and AAS Fellow, Capt. Jim Lovell. His memory will live on through his legacy as Command Module Pilot for Apollo 8 – the first mission to launch on a Saturn V and orbit the moon – and commanding Apollo 13, where his steady leadership and ingenuity turned a life-threatening crisis into a safe return.
