Maruthi Akella, editor of the AAS Journal of Astronautical Sciences and AAS Fellow, now has an asteroid named after him! The International Astronomical Union (IAU) Working Group for Small Bodies Nomenclature announced this recognition for Prof. Maruthi Akella in their latest bulletin.
